Joshua Tree - November 16-18 2009 [15 Images] I went out to the high desert here in southern California for a few days to watch the Leonid Meteor shower. It was awesome! I also took a few photos of the desert. Very peaceful. Cool at night but nice and warm during the day. |

Landscaping [2 Images] Della and I moved into our current home on December 15, 1993. since then we have made many changes, including changes to our front yard landscaping. Honestly, our front yard was in bad shape when we bought this house. But over the years, I managed to put in a new sprinkler system, tear out the old lawn put in a new one and put in some very nice ferns. We made our home look so nice that we won an award from the city of Garden Grove as one of the most beautiful homes in the city in 2005. Awesome. But, this summer I decided to make some even bigger changes. Basically, Southern California is a desert so it does not make any sense to import trees and lawns that suck up water. With that in mind, starting in May I killed our front lawn. It took some work but I did it. Then in October I hired a landscaping company, and had our whole front yard redone in native Southern California plants and flowers. We now have a couple of small hills, a couple of paths, some decomposed granite and some pea gravel all beautifully landscaped into a front garden, as opposed to a front yard. Our water bill has already dropped by half, and I expect it to drop even more. We hope you enjoy the photos. |

Malaysia, India and the Maldive Islands - 2003 [9 Images] This is a trip that I took in late October and early November 2003. I only took one small camera with me and I really did not take a lot of photos. But what I have are shared here. I only saw Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. What a gorgeous city. Great airport, great public transportation, wonderful food, fantastic shopping and some of the friendliest people around. I did not take pictures in the Bird Park or the Butterly Park. Maybe I should have. I'd never been to India, so I only went to the Southwestern portion of the country. I was not ready for India. Bombay is a monstrous city. I am sure there are beautiful parts to it, but I must have missed them. Poverty, filth, misety and way, way too many people. The Maldives were pretty even though they were hot and never really made me feel 'comfortable'. I don't know why. Every one was nice enough. It was kind of like visiting a relative that you don't know very well. |

Mother's Day - 2004 [12 Images] On my way back from Cuba I stopped off in North Carolina to visit my Mom for Mother's Day. She had just celebrated her 87th birthday. This was the last time I would see her alive. Life is like that. So is death. |
